Access
All pupils have access to;
- Daily support and monitoring from Qualified Teachers of the Deaf (ToDs)
- A Total Communication approach
- Support from an ARP Learning Support Assistant (LSA), who can support language modifying, BSL or SSE provision, note-taking and intervention support
- Daily audiology checks from trained and experienced staff, and maintenance of hearing technology (hearings aids and cochlear implants) and termly support visits from an audiologist
- Access to specialist audiological equipment including radio aids and soundfield systems
- Bespoke curriculum to meet individual needs (both within the ARP and their mainstream classroom)
- Annual Reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Strong home-school links with an open dialogue between parents and ARP staff
- A deaf peer group
- Access to deaf role models
- A programme of Deaf Awareness for staff and pupils across the school
- Regular trips and visits to support curriculum development and develop life skills, including Panathlon Challenge
- Support transitioning to secondary schools
Some pupils have access to;
- Weekly Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) from a Specialist SaLT for the deaf
- SaLT follow up sessions
- English and Maths interventions
- Referrals to outside agencies
All parents/carers have access to;
- Regular support from Qualified ToDs
- Strong home-school links with an open dialogue between parents and ARP staff
- Termly Tea and Coffee Afternoons
